The South African Capoeira Foundation 

With its origins dating back to 1995, the Foundation was conceived in order to transmit the fundamentals of Capoeira and Brazilian culture to the South African society, in a manner which is truly authentic and unadulterated, yet which is modern and dynamic in its transmission.

We at the Foundation have a wonderful team of Brazilian nationals, which will make your journey into the world of Capoeira and the multifaceted culture of Brazil an intriguing one. Based in Johannesburg, with regular events encompassing not only the art of Capoeira, but also workshops and educational classes relating to all aspects of Brazilian Culture.

The SA Capoeira Foundation, which is affiliated to the FCDRJ (Sporting Capoeira Federation of Rio de Janeiro) and the FPC (Capoeira Federation of Pernambuco), which are internationally recognised and have various member groups around the world, actively supports and assists all legitimate schools and interested parties, which have a genuine interests of Capoeira as a whole at heart.

The Foundation has a strong proclivity towards social upliftment, projects and programmes. Students and associated members are encouraged to participate in activities which will positively impact and contribute to society. Where possible and as far as resources will allow the Foundation will always assist in initiatives that are deemed worthwhile.

The Foundation is run by Mestre Estivador, born in Lapa, São Paulo, Brazil & has over 17 years of Capoeira in Brazil, South Africa and  Africa.
